Overview:
The goal of the internal audit program is to identify and highlight compliance gaps for management so that appropriate and timely actions can be taken to reduce the overall risk to the company through a lens of continuous improvement. The external audit programs ensure that our suppliers and third parties that impact Morton’s brand are held to to company’s required standards.

What you’ll do:
Lead Audits
- Coordinate/lead/participate in Corporate Food Safety and Quality audits (both internal and external)
of Morton Salt, Inc and Windsor Salt Ltd manufacturing facilities, contract facilities, suppliers, and stockpiles. - Coordinate with the supplier quality liaison to ensure auditing team is resourced and trained to support the
need for external audits of suppliers, co-manufacturers, warehouses, and stockpiles. - Assess state of compliance with appropriate regulations and standards and participates in the assessment of
corrective action plans to ensure they meet the audit standard to correct the identified non-conformances. - Lead contact with 3rd party GFSI certification body responsible for scheduling audits, coordinating payment, and
communicating requirements. - Lead and participate in GAAP analysis audits at the corporate level and specific processing facilities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain good laboratory practice audit standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain auditor calibration program that includes the facility auditors to ensure
internal audits are conducted impartially and fairly across all facilities and at the corporate level.
Continuous Improvement & Training
- Provide corporate training for internal auditing and other FSCA subject matter.
- Develop, implement, maintain and continually improve internal food safety and quality audit standards and
checklists. Coordinate with supplier quality liaison, using a risk based approach, to develop audits and
checklist that are appropriate for the scope of services and products handled by third parties (suppliers, co-
manufacturers, warehouses, and stockpiles). - Coordinate and plan yearly audit schedule and provide continuous training and development.
Qualifications:
In addition to demonstrating your capabilities of the above, top candidates possess:
- Bachelor’s Science Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or related field with at least 5 years of experience within food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- FSMA PCQI Certification preferred. Strong understanding of FDA human and animal food requirements. Preferred understanding FDA Drug requirements as well but not required.
- Must have strong problem solving, team building, planning and decision-making skills.
- Certification as a Lead Auditor preferred. Successful completion of auditor training course for one of the following standards: BRC, ISO 22000, IFS Food, SQF. Preferred experience with ISO 9001 standard.
- Knowledge and experience working within a plant environment
- Good laboratory practice experience required.
